Berchtesgadener Land

The Berchtesgaden National Park is the only Alpine national park in Germany. The imposing and photogenic second-largest mountain in Germany, the "Watzmann," is a captivating sight from many vantage points. Alpine inhabitants such as the golden eagle, ibexes, chamois, snow hares, marmots, and black grouse call this place home.
In the lower elevations, there are magnificent lakes like the famous Königssee and Hintersee. The landscape bears resemblance to Canada, and during spring, various orchids, including the largest native representative, the "Lady's Slipper," emerge from the ground.
The entire area is traversed by deep gorges, and romantic churches further enhance the picturesque scenery.

Salzburg Region

A short drive across the border leads to the Salzburg region. Here, nature offers additional highlights, including an impressive waterfall near Golling and Wallersee—a wonderful backdrop to experience the sunrise.

Schönau am Königssee

Schönau am Königssee is a picture-perfect vacation region in Berchtesgaden. Clear mountain lakes, towering peaks, breathtaking landscapes, and a diverse flora and fauna characterize the municipality. Typical Bavarian warmth and hospitality await you here. The Explorer Hotel Berchtesgaden is located in Schönau am Königssee.

Ruhpolding

The "Enchanted Forest," roaring waterfalls, and the Three Lakes Landscape "Little Canada" define Ruhpolding. The nature surrounding the municipality invites relaxation and deceleration.
The crisp mountain air rejuvenates body and mind, and on the rustic Alpine pastures, you can enjoy homemade snacks and traditional music. The noteworthy art mile is situated on Ruhpolding's local mountain, and the Rauschbergbahn takes you to the mountain summit quickly. The Steinbach-Hotel is located in Ruhpolding.
